NJSYO 2021 Summer Program Information

**Register and complete any audition requirements before June 23 in order to ensure a spot in this program.

Rehearsals: Wednesdays June 30, July 7, July 14, July 21, July 28
Rehearsal time: 5-7 PM
Registration fee: $175

The NJSYO will offer participation in our premier Summer Chamber Ensemble to advanced string players ages 13 and up. The program will be run by NJSYO Chamber Ensemble Conductor Leo Soeda and will be held in person at the Middletown Arts Center.

Audition will be required for any student not currently enrolled in Chamber Ensemble.

Symphonic Youth Orchestra Summer Bridge Program

Dates: Mondays and Thursdays, July 12- August 5
Times: 3:45-5:35 PM
Registration fee: $199

The NJSYO is offering a summer bridge program for high school students with our SYO conductor Ben Ringer. The program will be offered outdoors at the Middletown Arts Center.

Get back to making great music this summer with the SYO Summer Bridge Program! This program is open to high school students (including rising Freshmen) and will meet twice weekly on Monday and Thursday afternoons beginning July 12, 2021 and ending August 8, 2021. Students will rehearse in a mixed group of strings, winds/brass, and percussion in an outdoor setting at the Middletown Arts Center.

The SYO Summer Bridge Program will conclude with a performance showcase for friends and family (date TBD).

Audition will be required for any student not currently enrolled in Chamber Ensemble.

Summer Band Bootcamp 
Dates: July 19-23
Times: 9:30-11:30 AM daily
Registration fee: $150

The New Jersey State Youth Orchestra is offering a week-long program for beginning and intermediate players with Ms. Jennifer Brush and Mr. John Luckenbill, our NJSYO woodwind, brass, and percussion specialists. This program is appropriate for students entering the 4th through 9th grades and students will be separated into groups based on ability. The program will meet outside under the tent at the Middletown Arts Center.

Instruction will include: developing technique and fundamentals, tone production, music literacy, solo performance skills, audition tips and sight reading strategies, as well as preparation for the upcoming school year!

Summer Strings Bootcamp -Beginner Level
**Register before August 2 to ensure a spot in this program. Auditions are not required for participation.

Dates: August 9-13
Times: 9-10:15 AM daily
Registration fee: $150

The New Jersey State Youth Orchestra is offering a week-long program for beginner strings players with PSO conductor Ms. Chelsey Dokus. This program will meet outside under the tent at the Middletown Arts Center.

Instruction will include: developing technique and fundamentals, tone production, music literacy, solo performance skills, audition tips and sight reading strategies, as well as preparation for the upcoming school year!

Open to violinists, violists, cellists and bassists entering grades 3-5 with at least 6 months of experience on their instrument and the ability to play a one octave D major scale (recommended).

Instruction will include: developing technique and fundamentals, tone production, music literacy, solo performance skills, audition tips and sight reading strategies, as well as preparation for the upcoming school year!

Open to all string musicians entering grades 6-9 with at least one year of experience on their instrument and ability to play a one octave D, G and C major scale (recommended).
